Correctors are pretty different from concealers, instead of “concealing” the problem area, colour correctors neutralize the area. Most of the time it is better to correct the redness or discolouration than to conceal. You want to be able to neutralize a colour before adding another color on top of it, Such as; having dark under eyes circles you wanna correct the darkness (blackness) before you place a colour ontop [it will make your make-up look and feel much lighter and better].
Below are little break downs on the difference:
Concealers Concealers basically hide imperfections such as blemishes, dark under eye circles. Normally to choose the colour of the concealer that works for your skin is it should be a little lighter than your foundation colour, when it disolves and is that tad bit lighter then its your match. You really only want to use concealer to cover up your blemishes and under the eyes! |
Colour Correctors Colour Correctors come in 4 main colours and they are; yellow, orange, purple and green. It's important that the're are these colours for certain reasons, read below. Yellow: Corrects Dark Circles Having dark under eyes circles you wanna correct the darkness (black) before you place a colour ontop. Orange: Bring out the darkness (darker skin) Darker skin tones have hyperpigmentation and discoloration. They will need neutralizing colours such as oranges to counteract the darkness. Purple: Helps counteract yellow skin tones If you have "dull" and "lifeless" skin, you will need a purple corrector to brighten the skin. Green: Corrects Redness Green neutralizes the redness, such as people who suffer with rosacea or broken capilaries. The green helps remove the redness before you apply your foundation. |
Mineral Foundation: Colour correctors and concealers you will apply this before your foundation.
Liquid Foundation: Apply the colour corrector, then your foundation, then your concealer.
Its all about trial an error, find out what works best for your skin colour and stick to it!
